Chi Kung

What is Chi Kung?

Chi Kung or Qigong as it is sometimes known has its roots in Chinese traditional medicine.  It is the healing root of Tai Chi and forms the basis of all martial arts traditionally studied before learning to fight.

It is a form of meditation using gentle flowing repetitious movements of the arms, legs and body.  Using a combination of breathing and slow movements Chi Kung aims to strengthen the limbs, mobilise the joints and increase energy. It is known that mindfulness and meditation are very beneficial for overall health, reducing anxiety, enhancing mental clarity and focus, restoring calm.

Who is Chi Kung Suitable for?

It is suitable for all people and offers a great way to exercise the whole body in a no-impact way, and when the weather allows we try to hold the classes outdoors too.

Chi Kung FAQs

If you’re attending a class for the first time, please arrive 15 minutes beforehand so you can complete the necessary paperwork and health checks. We ask all our clients to complete these either on paper or online here. The information you provide will be treated confidentially. See our Terms and Conditions for more details.

Clothing that’s comfortable and allows you to move freely works best – body-hugging Lycra is not essential! We ask that you wear Pilates slipper socks or if you prefer; socks with a little grip on the bottoms are ideal. You might also like to bring a water bottle and a towel with you to the sessions.

We supply all the mats and equipment that you might need in the classes.

If you’re unable to attend a pre-booked class, we ask that you let us know that you won’t be there and if there is space available in an alternative mat class we can swap you on to it. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to swap a class; any classes not swapped or used will be lost.

You can arrange your swap: by emailing info@bridgehw.com or calling 01202 473 800. Please make sure you do this at least 24 hours before the class begins.

Classes run regularly throughout the week. To view our timetable click here.
